What would a recall cost your plant?
Your numbers in. A planning estimate out. Enter the size of a hypothetical recall — how many units, what they sell for, and how far the product traveled — and this calculator builds the direct cost from assumptions you can see and change. No email needed.
Run your scenario.

The range runs 30% below to 50% above the line-item total, because real recalls swing with how much product is recovered and how trade partners bill. If product never left your facility, handling counts at 35% of your per-unit rate and response costs at half; a consumer-level recall raises response costs by 25% for notification.
Disclaimer: this is an illustrative planning estimator, not a prediction and not financial advice. It counts only the direct costs above, from numbers and assumptions you supply. It excludes lost sales, retailer delistings, brand and reputation damage, legal liability, regulatory penalties, and the cost of the corrective work itself — which is why real recalls usually cost far more than any estimator shows.
The estimate is the floor, not the ceiling.
Most recalls do not start as product failures. They start as evidence failures — a process that was never validated, a record that cannot be trusted, a supplier that was never qualified — and the product follows. Our Recall Forensics series traces real recalls back to that first broken control.
